Whenever there is a natural disaster that causes death and destruction our hearts stop, we check with friends, loved ones and colleagues … pause and pray for those affected and then we wonder how can we help. As humans, Americans, friends and neighbors I think this is the natural response. Last week, as record breaking storms, in quantity and strength, tore through our nations mid section, literally destroying on one side of the street and leaving the other untouched … this was our reaction. As a Country, people stopped, took note, contacted love ones, prayed and then got to work. It will be a long road back for those left to pick up the pieces and move forward in Illinois and across the entire storm trail, but it will happen. When communities are hit with tragedy, natural, or otherwise, Americans come together, grow stronger, rebuild and overcome. It is who we are, what we do and why we are proud to be Americans.
