The other day I was writing about some of the great metal sports facilities that I had recently come across and then I noticed the perfect example of how a steel building can go be so incognito, you would never think from the outside that the Ice Arena on the Plymouth State University campus is a steel structure. The outside is brick, glass and metal with contemporary lines and a fresh inviting look. The inside houses a 60,000 square foot NHL size arena that includes athletic training rooms, offices for staff and coaches and locker rooms for teams and the public. This ice skating rink can seat 860 fans for competitive events yet also acts as the place for the communty to skate and hold special functions. Custom designed metal buildings can be used for so many construction applications. We will be looking into how steel is being used in some innovative home designs.
